But after the moment passes… what comes next? How can you enjoy your time as a newly engaged couple without drowning in everything that’s coming your way? Here are a few ideas on what to do immediately after the question is popped so that you can love your engagement.

Tell your friends and family.

Some of you may have an immediate engagement party after the proposal, but whether or not you do, spend some time making sure the people you love know about this exciting news. Nothing is worse than finding out over social media that a close friend or relative got engaged. Take the time to make those few phone calls. Send the texts about your engagement to those who would want to celebrate you. Prioritizing the extra minutest o let the ones you love know about this exciting moment will be well worth it and well received.

Spend time with just your significant other.

Don’t forget to spend a little one-on-one time with your new fiancé! While it might sound obvious, so many people will be vying for your attention during this time. Between the endless social media tags, wedding shower ideas, and friends asking for a play-by-play of the proposal, make sure to designate time to relive the experience for just the two of you. Ask questions. Allowing yourself to take a moment to hear about the moments leading up to your engagement can be exciting. Think about going on a fun date. Sneak off for some alone time and prioritize celebrating with your fiancé.

Get ready to plan.

After the initial thrill of engagement starts to wear off, planning a wedding may feel like a cloud of impending doom creeping your way. However, this doesn’t have to be the case. One can start planning well by getting organized and taking small steps. Talk with friends who have gone through this before you. Start to brainstorm with your fiancé about your dream wedding. Plan days to go look at venues. Research wedding planners or day of coordinators.Remember that organizing information and pacing your planning will help you to avoid feeling overwhelmed and unexcited about the amazing celebrations headed your way.

Soak it all up.

This is easily one of the most monumental moments of your life! Don’t forget to take it all in. Maybe consider staying off of social media for a day or two. While seeing all of your newly tagged photos can be exciting, nothing beats being present and experiencing everything as it is happening. Ask a friend to create a photo album for you instead. Spend intentional time with your fiancé and the ones you love. While the planning will begin soon, take time to enjoy that newly engaged feeling. Don’t rush this sweet season of preparing for a new chapter of your life with the one you love.
